When Duztin Watson finished his time in the military after a tour in the Middle East, he wanted to come home and start something that would honor his fallen comrades and those that paid the ultimate sacrifice throughout our country’s history, so that we may have the freedom we enjoy today. He was immediately attracted to the security industry because it’s characterized by protecting human life, guarding valuable property, and serving the community. In 2012, he created The RiP Group, a full-service security and investigative organization with a name that pays homage to those brave men and women who are gone but never forgotten.
Duztin Watson’s military career has influenced his leadership style and mindset, but it’s not the only thing that defines him. In our conversation, he was clear to point out that his military experience is just one part of his lifelong journey, which has been characterized by many ups and downs along the way. The series of sales and business development roles he held after reacclimating to civilian life were instrumental to developing the confidence and skills he needed to start and build his own company.
